Will you be partaking in St. Patrick’s Day festivities this March? Do you love hosting parties? If you do, you’re probably going to go all out decorating your home. Unfortunately, party stores try to charge you a premium price for decorations. Do you really want to spend your entire budget in decorations when you’d rather spend it on lots of food and drinks?
Below we showcase four ways you can save on decorations:
Go To The Dollar store – Long gone are the days of bad quality items at the Dollar Store, as you’d be surprised at what you can find there now. Many dollar stores have listened to customers’ needs for cheaper decorations and produced seasonal items, including items for St. Patrick’s Day. You’d most likely find the obvious, like signs and banners. Don’t limit yourself, though. Go browse the aisles to the other departments to look for green items you can repurpose as decorations. Think about gift bags, green tissue paper, whistles and blowers, green necklaces, hair extensions, Irish flags, wigs and t-shirts. The possibilities are endless.
Buy green paper in bulk and DIY – If you like to craft, then you can save even more by making decorations yourself. Websites like Pinterest make it easy to look up various DIY ideas that don’t take a lot of time or materials. Buy your materials in bulk to take advantage of the savings. Some ideas for crafts include hats, bow ties, shamrock garlands, favor boxes, badges, wristbands and signs.
Find free St. Paddy’s day printables – There are so many websites that it’s impossible for you not to find printable decorations related to St. Patrick’s Day. Browse the many DIY websites that provide free templates that you can easily print out and tape all over your walls. If you want to include your kids in the decorating frenzy, think about printing out coloring pages for your kids to color. The kids will have something fun to do, you’ll save time finding decorations and you might be able to distract your kids to the point where you can find a minute to yourself.
Repurpose other holiday decorations – Don’t limit yourself to buying St. Patrick’s Day decorations if you choose not to DIY from scratch. Think about any type of decoration you see that is green or even remotely related to the St. Paddy’s day theme. You can be as creative as you want with this. Can you repurpose a Christmas tree by trimming it with green lights, shamrocks and cutouts of leprechauns? Can you use green and gold tinsel left over from Christmas and use it as necklaces for when your guests come? Why not hold a contest during your party to see if your guests can repurpose a Valentine’s Day decoration so it fits the theme of your party? If you can’t come up with more ideas, don’t be afraid of asking your friends. Many people will be glad to help.
As you can see there’s plenty of ways and smart ideas on how to save on decor for St Patty’s Day – try one or all our tips above and save big at checkout.
