One of the most common questions that Michelle and I both get asked is, “How do you get hired as a staff writer for blogs?” So, today, I’m happy to share some of the techniques I use to not only find the job postings but to make sure I actually get hired too!
I know that there are many stories of people who have secured contracts for $100/post right out of the gate; however, my success story doesn’t sound like that!
Instead, my work as a staff writer began gradually and grew organically as I became more skilled and more respected in my niche…

We had a change in Prime Minister this week. It isn’t really a surprise to anyone, least of all the PM. It feels like Australia has leadership challenges and turns over Prime Ministers like a pot smoking teenager eats brownies. Happy Friday everyone! As many of my loyal readers knew already, I was gone most of the week helping my youngest brother find an apartment as he just graduated from college last month and landed his first teaching job. He’ll be moving much closer to us and will be living only about 45 minutes from where I went to college, so since I know the area pretty well, I was able to help him start to get some things set up for when he’ll be moving next month…

 
 
And we’re off…. to Ohio.  My wife is originally from the Dayton/Cincinnati area, so we’re going to road trip there to spend the week of the 4th with her family.  We’re planning on driving today and tomorrow then hanging out with her family for 7 days and then heading home the next Sunday (after the 4th)…

This weekend Vonnie and I will celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary!  I’m take great pride and joy in our wedding anniversaries given all the adversity that we have endured the last four years as we have worked to pay off our mountain of credit card debt.  Marriage takes a lot of work without having the added stress of financial issues…

From now on My Financial Independence Journey (I really should have come up with a shorter title) will be shifting to a two day per week posting schedule.  Six months of 3 posts per week was a good run, but I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to downshift to something more sustainable.
